The Auxiliary was proud to host the District meeting at our Post. Members shared success stories and plans for the future. Such gatherings serve to make each unit and the district stronger.

The Auxiliary continues to be a highly effective unit and demonstrates thier dedication to veterans and their families. From the visits to the VA to their assistance with the youth, They SERVE.

Unit 77 is off to a great start for 2015- 2016.We are basking in the glory of certificates and citations earned at the State Conference in Raleigh during June.
President Bessie Bright was named the Unit President of the year. Martha Whitaker received first place for Legislative Programs.
The Unit received recognition for reaching our membership goal of 176 plus members and a certificate for 101% in Membership.
We received third place for the History of the Unit and commendation for our VA&R projects.
Unit Members Sharon Price and Lona Wilson go to the VA hospital the second Tuesday of each month for BINGO with the patients in CLC Building and serve snacks. Their efforts are always rewarded by the joy they bring to the veterans they visit. If you would like to go, call President Bessie at 828-692-8414.
Terri Kilpatrick chaired a great Poppy Distribution Memorial Day Week.
Other projects are being planned to assist homeless veterans, women veterans, and our own Adopt-a- Soldier Program.
A collection box is located in the Canteen for your contributions to this effort.
Unit members participated in a Thank You Day for Morris and Sue Dale. They are great members and we will miss Sue.

Unit 77 Auxiliary had a busy September. On Sept 19 we hosted the ALA Division III meeting. Fifty seven Division members and State officers attended the informational meeting. Special thanks to Deborah, Cliff, Lori and Stacy for a wonderful breakfast and lunch.
Lorraine Rhodes and her committee hosted the Gold Star Family Tea on September 28 with one Gold Star Mother and two Sisters attending. They received yellow mums as a token of our appreciation. Sandwiches, cheese, crackers, fruit and delicious dessert were enjoyed by 15 members. Thanks to everyone who donated food, and helped with set up and clean up.

We go to the VA hospital on the second Tuesday of each month. We leave about 12:00 noon from Henderson Crossing parking lot on Four Seasons Blvd where Bi-Lo is located . While at the VA, we serve snacks , host a bingo game and distribute collected reading material and games.
The Unit participated in Casino Night Oct. 26 at the VA hospital and will assist with a Car Show on Nov.7. Any one interested in participating contact President Bessie 828-692-8414
Thanks to the WNC Wheels Car Club for their generous donation for our Veterans projects including a big box of games and puzzles for October visit. Be sure and put money in their parking meter next year. .
Thanks also to the BINGO Team for their generous donation to be used for veterans needs. .

Five Tar Heel Girl State Citizens gave their report at the October meeting and five more will report in November. Ladies be sure to attend if you want to hear the best of our high school senior girls speak on the difference Girl State has made in their lives. The Unit pays part of the tuition and the families pay the balance.
We are looking forward to a busy fall visiting tNhe VA for Bingo, car show and Casino Night.
We will donate money for the VA Hospital patients’ gift bags valued at $35 each. Each bag includes a thermos cup, a hat, a throw, Salvation Army calender, stuffed angel and the very nice duffel bag. Several Unit members will help distribute them on December 14.
The Unit members are looking forward to the Commander's Christmas party on Dec. 12 and a visit from the Auxiliary Department President Linda Laws.
Unit 77 meets the first Thursday of each month in the Bingo Hall at 7:00. We follow the school out rule, if no school no meeting.
Membership applications are available in the canteen and from any member. We have reached our membership goal of +35% before Fall
